225g Plain flour
100g Butter, cubed
2-3 tbsp Cold water
Sift the flour into a bowl, Add the butter and rub into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
Add salt and water and mix to a firm dough.
Knead the dough lightly then wrap in clingfilm and allow to cool for at least 30 mins.
Roll out your chilled dough on a lightly floured surface using a rolling pin and create pastry cases for your tarts, pies etc.
Flavourings and additonal ingredients such as nuts or fruit, may be added to the pastry before adding the salt and water.
