This football match cake is ideal for any football fan's birthday celebration. Simple to make with maximum effect!

You Will Need
Oblong cake (Approx. 11" x 7") Baked, Filled and masked with buttercream.
14" x 10" Oblong Drum Board (06SWD14X10F)
1kg Culpitt White sugarpaste (0674227)
2x 250g Culpitt White sugarpaste (74229)
Colour Splash Food Colouring Gel - Leaf Green (0675078)
Renshaw ready to use royal icing (0605860)
Small piping bag (83151)
No.2 Writer nozzle (ST2)
Football cake decorating set (800691)
Step 1

Colour white sugarpaste with green food colouring (or use a ready coloured paste such as Lincoln Green – 0602676A).

Step 2

Place cake onto drum board.  Cover with green paste, and cut off around the base (or take to the edge of the board if wished).  Allow to dry.

Step 3

Pipe lines onto the ‘pitch’ using royal icing.  Allow to dry.Add goalposts and players to top of cake, and fix in place with a little royal icing.

Step 4

Finish board around the base of the cake with leftover green sugarpaste, mixed with water to a ‘tacky’ consistency.  Spread onto board and ‘stipple’ with a knife.

Finish board edge with a suitable coloured ribbon.

Tips for Piping

Use a ruler placed alongside where you are piping, as a guide to help you when piping straight lines.

Have a fine damp brush handy to correct any mistakes, or to neaten the lines where you finish them off.

Leftover Green Sugarpaste for cake tops. 

Bake cupcakes (recipe of your choice) once cooled completely, Spread some jam or buttercream over the top of the cupcake and place a circle of green sugarpaste over the top.

To finish, Simply add a sugar topper using some edible glue.
