These simple Halloween cookies are perfect for handing out to your trick or treaters or as a spooky Halloween snack at a party.

You Will Need

To Make The Cookies
250g Plain flour (If making Chocolate cookies replace 50g of flour with 50g of cocoa powder.)
2g bicarbonate of soda (065707)
170g unsalted butter, melted
220g light brown sugar
100g caster sugar
15ml vanilla extract (065601)
1 egg
1 egg yolk
335g chocolate chips (Milk, Dark or White)
Pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 165ºC. Line cookie sheets with greaseproof paper.

Sift the flour and baking soda (and cocoa powder) into a bowl, then add the salt and set aside.

In a bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar and caster sugar thoroughly. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Then mix in the reserved sifted ingredients until mixed. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.

Put a tablespoon of cookie dough at a time onto the prepared greased sheets. The cookies should be about 3 inches apart.

Bake for 15-17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

To Decorate

Once your cookies have cooled completely, Add some edible glue to the back of the sugar plaques and press on top of the cookies. 

You may wish to add more decoration such as: glitter, sprinkles etc.
