Step 1

Roll out a small amount of your Red sugar paste and cut out a circle using your 63mm round cutter. Attach to your cupcake using edible glue and spritz with the House of Cake Gold glitter spray.

Step 2

Roll out a small amount of your Brilliant White sugar paste and cut out another circle using your 63mm round cutter. Attach to the other cupcake using edible glue and spritz with the House of Cake Silver glitter spray.

Step 3

Roll out your green metallic modelling paste and use your large calyx cutters to create your leaves.

Step 4

Using the ball tool from your tool kit, flatten out each of the edges to achieve the look of thin poinsettia leaves.

Step 5

Using your veining tool from your tool kit, carefully scribe veins into each leaf. Once you’ve added the detail, use the ball tool to press down the middle to make the leaves curve inwards before gently bending and twisting each of them for a realistic effect.

Step 6

Repeat these steps to create your petals, using both the ruby and pearl modelling pastes. Use both the small and medium calyx cutters to create varying sizes, as pictured.

Step 7

To build your poinsettias, start with your large green leaves and stack your ruby petals in ascending order of size using the ball tool to gently press the centre of each layer to secure. Make sure to slightly rotate each layer, and secure in place with a dab of edible glue.

Step 8

Repeat this process using the pearl petals, adding highlights to the edges of the petals using Metallic Gold paint for added effect.

Step 9

Secure your ruby poinsettia to the white cupcake and your pearl poinsettia to the red cupcake using a dab of edible glue. Add two or three gold dragees to the centre of each of the poinsettias for a beautiful finish.
