Step 1

For the paste, use equal quantities sugarpaste and Cake Star modelling paste together, or use sugar flower paste. Knead well and add colour if required.

Step 2

Roll paste out very thinly and cut out with ‘easy rose’ cutter. Thin the petal edges all round with the rolling pin, on the foam pad. (You may use the same rolling pin, or if you prefer, you may find a smaller one is easier to use for this job).

Step 3

Brush a line of glue along the length of the paste just above the centre.

Step 4

Fold in half lengthwise and brush another line of glue along the bottom edge. Roll up to form a small rose. Tweak the petal edges to give a realistic look to your rose.

Repeat this process if you want a larger rose until you have the size required. Shape the petals as you go to give a realistic finish.

If you wish, brush some deeper pink dusting powder into the centre, and onto the petal edges to bring your rose to life!
