Bake bread with a difference by creating cute hedgehogs in 3 simple steps!

Bread dough

You Will Need:

500g Strong white bread flour (06843007)
2 tsp salt
7g sachet yeast
3 tbsp olive oil
300ml water
Greaseproof paper (820541)
Narrow blade scissors (83502)



Mix together flour, salt and yeast. Make a well in the centre and add the oil & water. Mix well then knead on a floured surface. Place into an oiled bowl and leave to rise for 1 hour.

Mould dough into ball and place onto greaseproof paper on a tray, leave for 1 hour again to double in size. 

To make the hedgehog

Cut off small sections of the dough (to be used to create the feet)

Shape the ball into a teardrop shape which is slightly lowered at the point. Add 2 small balls of dough to either side of the teardrop and using a knife create 2 slits in each ball to create the feet.

Where the dough starts to rise start cutting small incisions starting at the front and continuing to the back to create the 'spikes'

Finally add dried fruits or nuts for the eyes and nose, dust with flour and bake on 220ºC for 25-30 mins, until golden brown.
