Preheat your oven to 170 degrees Celsius and line a 12-hole muffin tin with your cupcake cases.
Using an electric mixer, or stand mixer, cream together your butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add in your eggs, cocoa powder, flour, and boiling water and mix until fully combined. Put your batter into the cases.

Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cupcakes comes out clean.
Make your buttercream icing by creaming together your butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes.
Add in your icing sugar in two halves and mix until combined.
Colour your buttercream with chosen colour(s) and put into a piping bag with your grass tip piping nozzle.
Pipe your monster’s fur all over the top of the cupcakes.
Add your edible eyes onto the cupcake in any way you like.
Using either a mini Oreo, or half of a regular Oreo, give your monsters a grin, and then pipe on the teeth using an edible white icing pen. Enjoy!
