Pick and mix an explosive superhero themed topping using the following Culpitt Select cake sprinkles:
- Yellow confetti
- Red confetti
- Yellow strands
- Black pearls
- Gold stars
- Red strands
Use a scoop or a spoon to measure out each colour depending on the size of the cake you want to decorate. Use larger sprinkles like the pearls a little more sparingly than the strands and confetti so they don't overwhelm the mix. Remember it's easier to add more than to take away!
Stir them all together in a bowl to see your unique sprinkles mix combine, adding more of the colours and shapes you want to focus on. When sprinkled on top of the cake, your DIY mix will create a wonderful impression of the aftermath of an explosion, and will match perfectly with this gumpaste comic book style cake topper.
Pick and mixing your sprinkles means you can easily create the best decorative cake topping to perfectly match your theme, colours and other decorations. The result will be a beautifully seamless coordinated cake, or batch of cupcakes.
On a sugar paste fondant covered cake, use a bit of edible glue to secure the bottom of your pile of sprinkles and help stop them slipping around when you move the cake. If you lose some over the sides though it doesn’t really matter, it just adds to the effect.
Your sprinkles will stick easier on a buttercream cake without the need for glue.
As well as mixing and sprinkling, keep some of the sprinkles separate to apply some more delicate detail.
To decorate the side of the cake, why not get creative and combine individual cake sprinkles with edible sugar pipings? These superhero cake decorations are already hand made to save some time on individual sugar crafting, but of course you can always model your own using coloured modelling paste to make your own decorations.
Whether ready made, or homemade, add some unique flair by embellishing with sprinkles!
Using a small paint brush and some edible glue, make amazing patterns and designs around the individual cake decorations to really bring the zaps, pows and bangs to life! This does take a bit of patience, but the results are really impactful. They add movement and energy to the side of your cake for added wow factor!
Shakey hands, or all fingers and thumbs? You can always try applying the sprinkles with tweezers.
Comic book style candles will add to the final impact when lit, finishing off the explosive theme nicely!
See, it’s easy to enhance your superhero themed celebration using these innovative ways of decorating with cake sprinkles for a modern, on trend birthday cake.
