Sugarflair Spectral Food Colouring Paste - Melon - 25g
Sugarflair Melon Spectral Paste is a soft, pastel yellow, part of the trusted Sugarflair range of highly concentrated food colouring pastes. Designed for colouring sugarpaste, flowerpaste, marzipan, buttercream, royal icing and cake mixes, this shade gives bakers and decorators a reliable, cheerful colour that is ideal for summer bakes, Easter cakes and light celebration designs.
Because the paste is so concentrated, a little goes a long way. Add a small amount with a cocktail stick, mix thoroughly, and build up gradually until you reach the shade you want. The consistency of your icing will not change significantly, even when a stronger colour is needed, and the shade will deepen slightly as it dries, so start light and add more as required.
As well as colouring icing, this paste can be used to create your own edible paint. Simply dilute a small amount with rejuvenator spirit, dipping solution, or water, and apply with a fine paintbrush for hand-painted cake designs, delicate detailing or bold artistic finishes.
This handy 25g pot is nut free, gluten free and suitable for vegans, and is made in England to Sugarflair's professional standard. A great addition to any home baker's cupboard.
Instructions for Use
Sugarflair Spectral Paste colours can be added or kneaded into sugarpaste, fondant, buttercream, royal icing, marzipan, flower paste and modelling paste. Simply add a little at a time with a toothpick to build up your desired shade without changing the consistency of the product you are working with. When mixing into sugarpaste, use sparingly to achieve a pastel shade, but add more to give a strong, vibrant colour.
If using pastes as food colouring paint add a little Rejuvenator Spirit or Dipping Solution using a small brush and paint on to icing. Water may be used but will not dry as quickly, or give quite such a good finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use this paste as an edible paint?
Yes, dilute a little of the paste with rejuvenator spirit, dipping solution or water to create your own edible paint for hand-painted cake designs.
What should I dilute the paste with for painting?
Rejuvenator spirit or dipping solution work best, giving a smooth consistency and a quick, even finish.
Can I use water instead of rejuvenator spirit?
Yes, water can be used, though it takes longer to dry and won't give quite as crisp a finish as spirit-based dilutants.
Will painted designs dry to a matte or glossy finish?
Painted designs generally dry to a soft matte finish, though this can vary slightly depending on the dilutant used.
Can I layer this colour over other painted designs?
Yes, once the base layer is fully dry you can layer further colour on top to build up depth and detail in your design.
How do I use Sugarflair Melon Spectral Paste?
Add a small amount of the melon paste to your icing with a cocktail stick, mixing thoroughly and building up gradually until you reach your desired shade.
Will the colour change once it dries?
Yes, Sugarflair Spectral Paste colours are highly concentrated and will deepen slightly as they dry, so start with less than you think you need.
What is the difference between the 25g and 400g Melon pots?
The 25g pot is ideal for home bakers and occasional use, while the 400g tub offers better value for cake businesses and decorators working through larger quantities.
